SAFETY NET SERVICES PROUDLY SPONSORS BRITISH RALLY RIDER MICK EXTANCE IN THE 2008 DAKER RALLY
Mick Extance, is one of Britain's most successful Dakar Rally riders, he has completed the famous 9000km long race across some of the toughest terrain on the planet more than any other Brit. This year Mick is hoping to beat his 2006 placing of 27th overall.
On this new edition, he has three ambitions. "Go all the way to the end, of course, but also be the best-placed Brit and, why not, finish in the top 20".
Racing on his Honda CRF 4501 that is capable of 110 km per hr Mick has had his bike fitted with a number of extras that will help him when racing in the desert terrain rally including a real time tracking system. When the device is active his team and supporters will know exactly where he is at any point of the race. The device also warns Mick if new riders are approaching from the rear and sends alerts to the riders ahead when he is about to overtake them!
Mick is one of the rally's rough and ready types, known for his resistance and capability to ride kilometre after kilometre without losing his lucidity. "I like it when the rally becomes a fight. The 2008 Dakar looks to be particularly tough with a lot of sand. I like riding in the dunes, that's why I like Mauritania so much. This country incarnates the spirit of the Dakar".
